Glimpses of Truth
Slow Down
It’s been cold. Brrr! These past few days have been a little unusual, I guess it’s global warming.
The day begins with the morning sun shining across the winter frost with a little snow mixed in on some days. But more than that, it’s been cold. Yet the beauty of winter has its own glory. Now, I have to admit that winter is my least favorite time. Yet it is one of my most productive times-- productive because it’s cold and I’m inside sitting at my desk writing articles like this one and planning my calendar for 2010. . . planning all those beautiful spring, summer, and fall days.
But for now, it’s cold. Everything is slow. Me, too! So let me share with you a few little thoughts I ran across, which you should read slowly.
“I believe that just because two people argue, it doesn’t mean they don’t love each other. And just because they don’t argue, it doesn’t mean they do love each other.” Yes, read slowly.
“I believe that you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.” That’s why we need to slow down.
“I believe that you can keep going long after you think you can’t.” Slow often wins out.
“I believe that we are responsible for what we do and say, no matter how we feel.” So slow down. We’ll have a better chance of getting it right.
“I believe that either you control your attitude or it controls you.” That’s true in every season.
“I believe that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you’ve had and what you’ve learned from them, and less to do with how many birthdays you’ve celebrated.” Birthdays just make us slow.
“I believe that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.” Yes, we live in fast times, but we must not allow them to wreck our lives.
“I believe that the happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything.” Most live a slower life.
“I believe in thanking God for all the wonderful people who help us throughout the journey of life.”
Thank God for those who travel at the right pace, in the place and time which God has allowed them.
Thank you for the times and circumstances that slow us down enough to see You, oh God.
So I’ll leave you with one more thought during this slow time. “I believe that you don’t tell God how big your storm is, you tell the storm how big your God is!!!”
