Glimpses of Truth
He’s Big!
How much do you know? Enough? I guess that I don’t always use everything I know. Knowing is important, but using the good that we know comes a little harder at times. Knowledge, learning, wisdom -- just getting the facts straight is important. But sometimes the facts get in the way. We are more concerned with opinion, with our feelings, our views, the impression we have or the ones we think someone might have about us.
You see, the facts often get in the way. The other things fight against us and often become the most domineering foe in front of us. How much you know is important, but what you know is more important. Those who oppose us, who want to contradict and cause conflict, who had rather harass, torment, hound, persecute---I’m sorry to get caught up in their oppressive opposition, for in so doing I allow them to destroy much or what I know to be truth. (Don’t we need to stay focused?)
So it’s the optimism, the anticipation, the confidence, the real hope which I have that continues to set me free.
Does my knowledge, my wisdom always show? Sorry to say, but the word “always” shows up on the back side of my knowledge and wisdom more than on the front side.
Yet, I want wisdom to rule in my life. I’ll bet you do, too. We all want wisdom, don’t we?
When we learn something, especially something that others do not know, we often enjoy bragging just a little bit – don’t we? But consider this – what happens when we encounter problems or situations which might also be unique to us, or unique to us just now?
Most of us go through the same types of troubles, pains, heartaches, heartbreaks, issues of life – yet just not at the same time.
So, what we know as believers is very important. Facts are important. Boasting about what we know is not good. Dealing kindly with others is supreme, but dealing truthfully with ourselves is more supreme. Yet our skeptics may continue. Usually they are not understanding because they don’t understand the facts. But we answer to God. That’s Big! Because God sees all, knows all and is eternal. That’s Big! If we are going to live in peace, we must have the peace of God.
I’ve already said that how much you know is important but what you know is more important. But now let me add, it’s Who you know that’s most important. He’s Big!
