Glimpses of Truth
Special! Just for Me!
“A Christmas gift for me! Thanks, but I didn’t know that I was deserving of such a special gift. I didn’t even realize that my name would be on your list. After all, I’m not very special; I don’t come from a well-to-do family. My appearance is not even acceptable in many societies of today. I don’t have any special talents to share. My creed and race are different from many others around the world. I don’t know! Uh! I don’t! I don’t understand! Why me? After all, I don’t even have anything to pay for such a personalized gift. It must be a mistake! It must be! It must be!”
This true story happened a few years ago. One of our volunteers was helping with the Christmas program where we give toys to children. Some of the children seemed pleased with their gifts, while others’ reactions were just so-so. One little blonde-headed eight-year-old boy stepped up to receive his box of toys. Eyes big and bright, he said, “Is all this for me? Just for me?”
There are those today who are humbled because such a worthy gift as Christ has been offered; humbled because the Holy Spirit has convicted and convinced them of their need of a Savior, a Redeemer; humbled because they received Christ into their hearts, realized that they were and are unworthy of such a special personalized gift; realized that He was given for them, and that they were special (one of a kind), with one-of-a-kind abilities, regardless of race or creed; and truly realized that God never, yes, never, has or will make one single mistake.
We’ve always been on His list. And thanks be unto God, we always will be!
Others, however, have missed out, missed out because they thought and continue to believe there was a mistake.
They have yet to receive the special personalized gift. Life itself, I mean all of the circumstances around, have clouded the way.
Now, I realize today that there’s much to cloud the way or prevent us from seeing the true Christ. It comes in what the world offers, even sometimes in what religion offers. Away from God, it’s hard to have good eyesight.
But regardless of all the disturbances around us, please, please, be still and allow God the Holy Spirit to share with you, a one-of-a-kind gift to a one-of-a-kind person. No mistake has been made. So say it …
“Just For Me!” You said it! “Just for me because I’m SPECIAL!”
