Glimpses of Truth
Praise God!
As I write to you this week, the sun is shining bright. Praise God! The humidity is a little high, but we have been looking for those warm days which cause God’s earth to green up and grow. Over my shoulder just now was the seven-day outlook. It looks as though it’s going to cool off for a few days. Praise God!
God is always at work, even though I don’t always see His mighty hand. Often I’m too busy doing all the things on my “to do list.” So today, at this moment, it’s time for me to be still.
A friend of mine is having a good week, due to the medical advancement in our day. She gives God the glory. “Praise God – Praise God.” Someone else came to make a special gift to meet a special need. “Praise God – Praise God.”
Remember Thomas Edison? Now I don’t often recall his name, but I am reminded from time to time that he had almost eleven hundred of his inventions patented. Now, what does that have to do with you and me and our everyday lives? Because of
We, all of us, in the hands of a mighty God, have the power to accomplish much, or should I say to receive the power (God) to accomplish more than we might think. The two examples of people I spoke of above are being used of God.
Some people seem to accomplish many things. They have various educational titles. They have received many awards and honors from organizations and government, and seem to be climbing the social ladder. Many are privileged to serve on boards, even become an elected official. Wow!
But – only a small percentage of people fall into these categories. So what are we to do? Praise God! David gives us great words of encouragement in Ps. 90:12 when he tells us to “number our days.” Now just what does this mean? How about “Evaluate the use of time in light of the brevity of life.” John MacArthur.
But that means we must be still and look for all the times we can say, “Praise God.” To be honest, I have too many dry spells. I can’t predict them; I can’t always explain them. It’s like being in a desert. I understand it’s common to most. My feelings get in the way. What really happens is that I allow something else to cause me to get caught up in “something else.” A.W. Tozer wrote in one of my little books entitled, “The Root of The Righteous.” – “We can work and walk without music and if we have true faith we can walk with God without feeling.”
Dry? Praise God! But don’t we expect some degree of spiritual joy to be present first? God is always teaching us to praise His Holy Name, even when we feel dry. He’s the Rock. Praise God, Praise God!
