Glimpses of Truth
Times Are A-Changing!
Once upon a time when life was a bit simpler, a man’s word was his bond. There wasn’t much need for a written contract and a couple of witnesses. Just an old fashioned handshake was sufficient and the deal was settled. Why not? Yet today our word seems to mean less because our actions often say something else. You know, “Our actions speak louder than our words.” It’s a shame they don’t always match up. Possibly it’s because we’ve been distracted by the greed of this world’s riches. After all, all we want is what someone else has. Times are a-changing!
The computer age has changed society, schools, the stock market, the work place—we’ll never be the same!
I still remember when a program was a television show, when windows were something that needed to be cleaned, when memory was something you lost with age, when a CD was a bank account, when a hard drive was a long trip you took for vacation, when backup happened right after you flushed, when a mouse was that dreaded varmint that somehow, someway has gotten into your house and chewed up something that you had packed away and not seen for years, when a web was home to a spider, and when a virus was some form of the flu. Times are a-changing!
The role of God’s Word in the lives of the common man is also changing today. What has happened? Inch by inch, foot by foot, yard by yard, and yes, today, mile by mile, God’s Word is being replaced.
The popular mind today seems to regard religion in general, and Christianity in particular, as a threat to much which governs us. This is totally contrary to what those who helped establish this country believed. George Washington said, “True religion offers to government its surest support.” He said that without God and the Bible it would be impossible to govern
Remember this—the less we know about God’s Word, the more we sink into moral decay.
In our schools today, we are taking the Bible, prayer, the Ten Commandments, and the fact of Creation and replacing them with police officers and dogs, metal detectors, and random search squads. Evolution is the way today; God has become history. This is the folly of modern
Therefore, it’s time to take a stand and not be pushed around—not even one inch. I pray that God will give us the courage, the conviction, the strength of character, and the boldness that in these changing times we will stand up for The God Who Changes Not.
